Step 3 – Obtain the required data

The next step in your project is about obtaining the actual data for your documentation. Here you go at last, after all the preparatory and installation work. But this way, you have created a sound base for obtaining the data. Depending on the size of your network and the selected archiving depth, the amount of data may be considerable. The Docusnap documentation suite, however, makes this process a piece of cake.

Automation ensures high data quality

One feature of the documentation suite Docusnap is that the software enables you to schedule the configured inventory scans for automated execution. As a consequence, this provides a high degree of automation as inventory data of your network devices is continuously updated in the background and can thus be kept up to date.

You can use Docusnap to inventory the major part of your IT systems. If you work mainly with Microsoft solutions, nearly 100% of your systems can be covered by Docusnap. This means that you have current inventory and configuration data of your IT landscape available at any time.

Software licenses need to be managed

The last step in obtaining the data relates to license management. Here, start with the commercial aspect by obtaining information on the purchase of the software products in use, i.e. collect license keys and serial numbers. This is a one-off activity. However, you should not underestimate the time this might take, as quite a lot of software applications might have accumulated over time.
