SQL Server Inventory

IT administrators receive detailed reports and graphical representations of SQL Server infrastructures.

Benefits of SQL Server Inventory with Docusnap

SQL Server inventory with Docusnap offers IT administrators and IT managers a comprehensive and automated solution for inventory and documentation of their Microsoft SQL Server environments. This technology enables agentless inventory, which eliminates the need to install additional software on target systems, without affecting network performance.

A major advantage of Docusnap SQL Server inventory is the significant time savings achieved by automating data collection processes. This significantly reduces the effort required for manual documentation and minimizes the risk of human error. The regular and automatic inventory of the IT infrastructure ensures up-to-date and precise information that forms a solid basis for well-founded decisions.

The data obtained through inventory is particularly valuable for a wide range of tasks. IT administrators can use detailed reports and graphical representations of SQL Server infrastructures to better understand and optimize the current state of database environments. The security reports, which include login names and settings, help improve security measures and help meet compliance requirements.

Another outstanding feature of Docusnap is the ability to create entity relationship diagrams (ER diagrams) that visualize the relationships and dependencies between databases. These charts provide valuable insights into the structure and functioning of database applications and make it easy to plan and implement changes.

The output documents that Docusnap automatically creates include comprehensive reports on database structure, security aspects, and table information. These reports can be scheduled as needed and generated regularly to always provide up-to-date and relevant information. The graphical representations of SQL Server infrastructures also provide visual support in analyzing and managing database environments.

Permissions

  • SysAdmin permission for SQL server inventory
  • If a user without a SysAdmin role is used, limited inventory is possible. Only parts of the SQL server or instance are inventoried.
  • SQL user or domain user
    • The domain user is integrated into the inventory dialog. This cannot be changed. The session user or the user account stored by the Docusnap server service is used.
    • SQL user can be stored separately for each instance found

Requirements
